The Freeman Falcon junior high football team traveled to Fall City’s Jug Brown Stadium to play Sacred Heart on Tuesday, September 25, and came away with a dominant 56 -12 victory, extending their season record to 3-0. Carter Ruse started an explosive first-quarter of scoring for the Falcons by returning The opening kickoff for a 55 yard touchdown return with 7:46 on the clock. He then converted a two point conversion run for 8 to 0 Falcon lead. The Falcon defense swarmed the Irish offense all day long, causing havoc early by recovering a fumble at the Irish 32 yard line. From there, Taylan Vetrovsky executed the triple option by pitching to Carter Ruse, who took the first offensive play from scrimmage for a 32 yard TD run. A Russ to Vetrovsky PAT pass attempt was good, extending the Freeman lead to 16-0 w 5:06 to play in the first. The defense flew around all game, led by Nate Eisenbarth at defensive end who finished as the leading tackler and a big 13 yard sack. After an Irish punt, Brandon Jurgens scampered for 65 yard touchdown run, which was followed by another Russ PAT run for a 24-0 Falcon advantage with 2:37 on the clock in the opening quarter. Three plays later on defense, Carter Niles made a house-call with a 23 yard pick six interception return for a touchdown. The PAT run failed, leaving the Falcons with a 30-0 advantage at the end of the quarter.

The second-quarter brought more dominant defense, led by Trevor Parde, Hayden Jennings and Wyatt Buss who along with their defensive teammates stymied the Irish offense all afternoon. The second-quarter added three more scores by the Falcons offense when Ruse found the end zone on runs of 34, 33 and 39 yards. All three PAT attempts failed, yet the game went into half as a 48 to 0 Freeman advantage. The second half did not start off the way of the young Falcons as Fall City Sacred Heart returned the opening kick for a 58 yard touchdown return. The defense again rose to the occasion stopping the PAT attempt for a 48 to 6 Freeman lead early in the second half. The young Freeman Falcons took the game the rest of the way, gaining valuable experience. Gabe Goes, Kellen Anderson, Connor Harms and Carson Robinson all registered tackles in the second half. The young Falcons got on the board with 3:12 left in the game as Connor Harms scored on a 1 yard touchdown run and converted the PAT run for a 56 to 6 Freeman lead. Sacred Heart finished the game by getting to the edge of the Falcon defense to score on a 32 yard touchdown run with 1:09 to play. The defense stopped the PAT, leading to the final score of 56 to 12. Freeman returns to action on Monday, October 1 with a 4:30 PM ball game in Wymore versus Southern.
