The Freeman 5th and 6th Graders made a trip to Lincoln on Friday, December 13th to visit the City Mission and to help those less fortunate this holiday season.

The day started with a shopping trip to Walmart.  Students were placed in groups and tasked with picking out specific items. Some chose toys for the Lincoln City Mission birthday closet, while others picked out bedding, personal items, and warm winter clothing. The trip was financed by generous family donations and money earned by the kids this fall cleaning bleachers after home football and volleyball games.

From Walmart, we headed to the Mission to drop off all of our donations.  Students were given a tour of the facility and had a short presentation from staff explaining how their donations will be used.  The experience was very eye opening for most students, and it allowed them to see the importance of giving. As their teachers, we were very proud of the way they represented our school and we appreciate their giving spirit!
